It’s hard to pull this off in the spirit it’s intended. So, I’ll just come out with it, ok?

You don’t belong in this struggle. It’s your struggle. You own it, and we’re helping you. You’re making room for us. And that’s ok: we all want, and are fighting for, the same thing.

This is why that matters: once you understand that failure here puts you at risk, the struggle to “stay plugged in” goes away.

And that’s fair. It’s hard to process, but . . .

I say this because the anti-Black race hate isn’t ours. It’s ok. WE’VE known this for, well, forever. We supported this ass-backwards approach of folks “helping” us with stuff that’s not ours.

But we’ve messed it up here, and it’s time for us to reset this one. And let’s do it right this time. I think we can do this, we can get this done. But only if we’re honest, and honesty starts at the beginning.
